DOMITROVIC, H. A. 2000. Melanomacrophage centers in liver, spleen and kidney of Cichlasoma dimerus (Pisces, Cichlidae): histology and modifications in relation to sanitary and environmental conditions. Rev. Ictiol. 8(1/2):9–18. The histological characteristics of the melanomacrophage centers are described in liver, spleen and kidney of Cichlasoma dimerus, with a comparative analysis of the density and the size of the centers among the different sizes of the fishes, and in different sanitary and environmental conditions. The melanomacrophage centers of the liver are spherical or ovoid, they have 20–60 μm of diameter, and their pigmentation varies among yellow– gilded and brown dark. The melanomacrophage centers of the spleen are rounded or slightly ovoid, they have 15–50 μm of diameter, and they are surrounded by a very thin and irregular capsule of conective tissue. In the liver of Cichlasoma dimerus is found the smaller density of melanomacrophage centers, in the kidney there is a quantity slightly superior, and in the spleen is presented the greater number of centers. In general, the size of the melanomacrophage centers is slightly greater in the liver than in the spleen, while in the kidney they are smaller. In the group of fishes maintained in aquaria during 100 days is produced a reduction of the number of melanomacrophage centers in liver and spleen in relationship to the fish coming from natural environments and without pathologies. We developed a standard weight equation Ws to aid in the analysis of pejerrey Odonthestes bonariensis body condition over time and across populations using the relative weight index Wr. We used the regression-line-percentile technique, which provides a 75th-percentile standard by lengt...
